Our Journey

Born in 2015 and based in Tavira, Southern Portugal, the true origin of Kozii is the journey. Not only in the purely geographical sense but in the most important and noble sense: that of the experience of the human.

Kozii is born from this delicate territory that is the other and of the respect for what it is to be human. This is what inspired us, Cecília and Nuno, to create.

A Vision Made of Travels

We are tireless travellers, – both out of love and vocation -, and decided to take years of experience in various parts of the world to build a brand of clothing and accessories that reflects not only an aesthetic but also what we believe in: a fairer world, more sustainable, more human.

“When visiting my parents – during a period of time in the 90’s, when they lived in Mozambique” -, Cecília says, “I began designing garments from Batiks with the local women, as a hobby.”

“After I graduated in Anthropology of Art from the University of San Francisco and following my passion for crafts and fashion, I set off traveling around the world searching for new materials and techniques to make garments and accessories.”

“With my background in Anthropology, I sought to produce arts that were not only sellable but that also empowered local artisans to adapt their heritages and crafts to a more contemporary market.”

Rooted in Portugal

“For 8 years, I did productions in Mexico, India, Thailand, Brazil and Guatemala. Later on, together with Nuno, my partner with whom I lived in Brazil and with whom I produced a line of accessories with the local indigenous Pataxó, we decided to settle down, build a family and choose a beautiful place where we could feel at home“, Cecília continues.

“We ended up choosing Tavira, in the stunning Portuguese southern coast, and chose to design Kozii. Nuno’s background is in Environmental Management, so it fit to perfection, – together with Anthropology -, we created a brand that mirrors our experiences, what we believe in and on how we thought we could fit in Tavira.”

Our Mission & Philosophy

We see Kozii as a journey through time that immerses us on a search for value, to learn from ancient traditions and to reinforce the importance of substance in fashion.

We seek to create a slow fashion brand for those longing for aesthetics, honesty and sustainability, forever embracing the idea of fashion as a timeless journey.
